How to Play Roullete
Roullete is a game that’s easy enough for beginners to learn, but offers plenty of betting options that appeal to experienced players too. It’s a classic casino table game that can be found at any place with a wheel and a betting table, whether land-based or online. In fact, it’s one of the only casino games with a mathematically proven house edge.
You can play Roulette either by placing bets on individual numbers or different groups of numbers. Each number or grouping is represented by a colored chip on the table map. The color of the chip corresponds to its payout if it wins. The number 1 pays 35 chips, for example, while a bet on the number 0 pays 17 chips.
There are a variety of roulette bet types, but most bets fall into two categories: outside and inside bets. Outside bets cover groups of numbers, such as red and black, and are usually cheaper than inside bets, which cover single numbers. Outside bets also tend to have higher payout rates. However, be careful not to overspend – roulette is a game of chance and should be played responsibly.
Before you begin playing roulette, decide how much you want to spend and choose a table within your budget. Each roulette table carries a placard describing the minimum and maximum bets allowed, so it’s important to read them carefully. If you are unsure what the rules of roulette are, ask the croupier for clarification.
Once you’ve placed your bets, the croupier will spin the roulette wheel and a ball will drop into one of the pockets. When the winning number is determined, the croupier will clear the losing bets off the table and pay out any winning bets based on the payout table. Then, you’ll be ready to make another bet!
The Dozens Bet: A bet on the winning number being in the first, second, or third dozen of numbers on the layout. This wager pays 2-1.
Odd or Even Bet: A bet that the winning number will be odd or even, including 0 and 00. This bet pays 1-to-1.
Street Bet/Three Number Bet/Side Bet/The Trio: A bet that the winning number will come up on a row of three numbers on the table. This bet pays 11-1.
Columns Bet: A bet that the winning number is in one of the three columns on the table. This bet pays 2-to-1.
Straight-up Bet: A bet on a specific number. This bet pays 38 chips.
You can also bet on a combination of these bets, known as a Split Bet. This bet consists of placing chips to straddle the line between two numbers on the table. If either of the bets win, you will receive a payout of 17-1. If neither bet wins, the chips are left up for the next spin.
